LENS CARE
Can I use eye drops with my ACUVUE® lenses?
Yes, but you should use eye drops specifically recommended for use
with soft hydrophilic (water-loving) contact lenses. Check with
your Eye Care Professional, or the eye drop manufacturer, for additional
information. You should always check with your Eye Care Professional
when changing drops, as mixing even approved solutions can occasionally
cause problems.
How should I clean my ACUVUE® lenses?
We recommend that only multipurpose or peroxide-based solutions
and neutralizers designed for soft-contact lenses be used with our
products for cleaning and disinfection. We do not recommend heat
disinfection. With ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses
and ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses for ASTIGMATISM,
you can use most multi-purpose solutions. Check with your Eye
Care Professional for recommended lens care products. 1•DAY ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses do not require cleaning when worn
for a single day. Simply throw out the old lens and replace it with
a fresh lens
I left my contact lenses in the car—and I think they
may have gotten very hot. Is it safe to still wear my lenses?
As long as the lens is still snugly sealed in its foil package or
a lens case with no leakage of any solution, and the lens remains
in its hydrated state within the sterile package, it is safe to
use.
What is the solution that ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses
are packed in?
ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses are packaged in a buffered, non-preserved,
sterile saline solution (a sterile solution of salt water very similar
to the tears in your eyes).
It feels like my lens is "lost" in my eye. What
should I do?
The lens cannot get lost behind your eye, so relax. The lens should
work itself around to where you can see it by itself. Then, after
washing your hands with soap and water, remove the lens. If the
lens does not work itself around, try putting some rewetting drops
or a few drops of saline solution into your eye and look way up,
down and side to side to attempt to move the lens. You can also
close your eyes and GENTLY move your finger over your lids around
the socket of the eye to reposition the lens where you can see it.
This may help the lens work to where you can see it. If the lens
does not work itself around within 10 minutes, or you are experiencing
extreme discomfort, call your Eye Care Professional.
A friend of mine puts her contact lens in her mouth to
rewet it. Is this a good idea?
NO! The mouth is not a sterile environment. If you need to rewet
your lenses, we recommend using contact lens rewetting drops (available
where you buy your cleaning solutions) or sterile saline solution.
Your Eye Care Professional can recommend the best product for you
and your lenses.

RECOMMENDED WEARING
If I've had LASIK or another form of refractive surgery,
can I still wear ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses?
You may be able to, but only your Eye Care Professional can tell
for sure. Be sure to discuss this with him or her at your next appointment.
If your Eye Care Professional feels that contact lenses are still an option, we
feel that original ACUVUE® is the best choice for people who've
undergone refractive surgery.
According to the expiration date on my package of lenses,
they have expired. Should I wear them?
We do not recommend using ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses past
the expiration date printed on the package.
What is the difference between disposable and frequent
replacement wear?
Disposable wear means single use of the product and does not normally
involve the use of lens care solutions. Examples of this include
when the lens is thrown away every day, or is thrown away every
time it is removed if recommended for overnight wear (up to 6 nights/7
days). Frequent replacement includes product reuse, cleaning, disinfection
and planned replacement. The lens is cleaned and disinfected each
time it is removed from the eye. The lens may be worn for Daily
Wear or Continuous Wear (1-7 days/6 nights). Check with your Eye Care
Professional for the wear schedule that is appropriate for you.
I've forgotten to take out my lenses according to my Eye Care Professional's
prescribed wearing schedule. What should I do now?
Remove your current lenses immediately and replace them with a fresh
pair. If you have run out of lenses, call your Eye Care Professional
to reorder lenses. If your lenses are causing irritation please
contact your Eye Care Professional immediately, and follow their
advice.
A friend of mine has never worn contact lenses and wants
to try mine on. Is this okay? What if I disinfect the lens before
and after she tries it?
Your contact lenses are medical
devices that have been specially fit by your Eye Care Professional
for your unique vision needs and the unique shape of your eye. We
do not recommend you share your lenses with your friend, because
your lenses have not been fitted for your friend's eyes. Instead,
tell your friend to ask their Eye Care Professional about ACUVUE®
Brand Contact Lenses. If contact lenses are right for them, their ECP
will be glad to fit her with a Free*
Trial Pair of ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses that are right
for her.
Can I wear ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses
to sleep at night?

TYPES OF CONTACT LENSES
What is a soft contact lens?
A soft contact lens is a medical device made from a family of plastics
called hydrogels. Hydrogels usually contain from 35% to 75% water.
As a result, soft contact lenses are wet, pliable and transmit oxygen
to the cornea. At less than 0.1 microns thick, an ACUVUE® Brand
Contact Lens is thinner than a human hair. The lens floats on the
tear film of the front of the eye-working much like a spectacle
lens to bend light and redirect it towards the back of your eye.
What are ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses for ASTIGMATISM and ACUVUE® Brand TORIC Contact
Lenses?
ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses for ASTIGMATISM and ACUVUE® Brand TORIC Contact Lenses are soft contact
lenses designed for people with astigmatism. In the past, it was
nearly impossible for people with moderate to severe astigmatism
to wear contact lenses, but innovations in the contact lens field
have changed this.
What is Astigmatism?
Approximately 2/3 of people who need vision correction have some
degree of astigmatism. With astigmatism, light rays entering the
eye focus in two different locations, requiring a more complex lens
for correction to see clearly. This can result in a difference in
clarity for vertical lines compared to horizontal lines, for example.
Spherical lenses (those not made to correct astigmatism) can only
partially correct astigmatism, so ask your Eye Care Professional
about ACUVUE® ADVANCE™ Brand Contact Lenses for ASTIGMATISM that are specially designed to correct astigmatism.

ACUVUE® Brand BIFOCAL Contact Lenses are contact lenses

BUYING CONTACT LENSES
Can I buy ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses online at www.acuvue.ca?
A lot of people find that filling their contact lens prescription
on the internet saves both time and money. Unfortunately, it may
also potentially put your eye health at risk if certain procedures
are not followed. How? There are two main problems:
Some Internet-based contact lens sellers honor expired prescriptions—
which means that you, the consumer, can end up with lenses that
were fitted for your visual ability a few years ago—and don't
meet your current visual needs. If your prescription is old or expired,
it's safe to assume that you haven't been to the Eye Care Professional in the
past year. Not getting regular eye exams can put your eyes at risk.
Secondly, a thorough eye examination can detect both vision-related
and non-vision-related problems.
Filling your prescription online may keep you from going back to
your Eye Care Professional for a check-up of your new lenses. This is much
more critical for new lens wearers. Regardless of how long you've
been wearing contact lenses, you should be under the care of your
Eye Care Professional. In addition, please contact your ECP immediately
if you feel any unusual discomfort or note any changes in your vision.
Why do I need a prescription for contact lenses? Why can't
I just buy them over-the-counter?
Contact lenses are medical devices that require a prescription.
Just as people's feet come in different lengths and widths, people's
eyes come in slightly different shapes as well, and many of the
changes that can occur to your vision, eye health and general health
over time can only be detected using highly specialized equipment
and procedures. Only an Eye Care Professional can properly measure
your need for correction as well as determining which size and type
of contact lens is best for you. To keep your vision sharp and your
eyes and body healthy, we recommend seeing your Eye Care Professional
annually or as directed.

ABOUT ACUVUE® 2 colourS ™ colour LENSES
How many colour choices are offered in ACUVUE® 2
COLOURS™?
ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ are available in three colours
that enhance light eyes (Aquamarine, Ocean Blue, and Emerald Green)
and seven colours that completely change any eye colour (Chestnut
Brown, Sapphire Blue, Hazel Green, Jade Green, Pearl Grey, Warm
Honey, and Deep Blue).
I’ve noticed recently new names for the colours
offered by ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™. What has changed?
To help consumers better visualize what our colours will look like
on their eyes, we have added a descriptor to the names of the existing
colours. The opaques have changed as follows: Blue, Green, Grey,
and Honey have been renamed Deep Blue, Jade Green, Pearl Grey, and
Warm Honey. The existing enhancer names of Blue, Green, and Aqua,
have been modified to create Ocean Blue, Emerald Green, and Aquamarine.
Are ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ available
in any prescription?
At this time, ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ are available
for those people who don't require vision correction and for people
with prescriptions between +6.00D and -9.00D (in 0.25D & -0.25D
steps). Even if your prescription is available, your Eye Care Professional
must decide if ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ are right for
you.
Will I get to try on all of the colours to decide
which one I want to buy?
Your Eye Care Professional and his or her staff will ask that you
narrow down your choices to one or two colours before you try on
lenses. While they want to make sure you're happy with your choice,
their office will have a limited amount of trial lenses and time.
You can learn more about your choices and what might look best on
you by taking the ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ Test and
by utilizing the colour choice information in your Eye Care Professional's
office prior to your appointment.
Will I get to take a free trial pair home with me
to show my family and friends before I decide to buy ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™?
Your Eye Care Professional may allow you to take one trial lens
in each colour that you choose. Keep in mind that ACUVUE® 2
COLOURS™ trial lenses have no prescription power and
are marked with the word TEST. As a result, they will not be usable
beyond the trial period. However, they will provide you with a very
good representation of the effect the lenses will have on your appearance
while you are making your colour choice decision.
If my friends want to see how they look when wearing
my ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ lenses, is it OK to let
them try on my lenses?
No. You should never allow anyone to wear your lenses. Sharing the
same lenses with someone else may increase your chances of having
eye infections and other complications. Even if you haven't opened
the individual lens package, you still shouldn't let someone else
wear your lens. Your Eye Care Professional has prescribed lenses
to fit and provide necessary vision correction for your eyes. If
you have a friend who wants to try ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™,
he or she should make an appointment with an Eye Care Professional.

How old do I need to be to buy ACUVUE ® 2
COLOURS™?
Your Eye Care Professional will be able to tell you if he or she
thinks you are old enough and ready to wear any contact lenses,
including ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™. Some parents have
strong feelings about their children wanting to change their appearance.
Therefore, if you are under age 18, it's best to discuss your desire
for colour contact lenses with a parent or guardian before seeing
your Eye Care Professional. Depending on your age, your Eye Care
Professional may require parental consent before fitting and selling
contact lenses that alter your eye colour.
Where can I find more information about ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ Brand?
Your Eye Care Professional can provide more information and an assessment
as to whether or not ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ are right
for you.
Do I have to have a prescription to wear ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™?

If I know I don't need a prescription, why should I go to

Many of those who intend to purchase colour lenses with no vision
correction end up needing a prescription after they are examined
by an Eye Care Professional. Even if you do not require vision correction,
it is important that your Eye Care Professional verifies proper
fit and defines a wear schedule that will maintain your good vision
and overall eye health. Remember, all contact lenses are medical
devices. Even contact lenses that don't correct vision require a
prescription.
Why can't people with brown eyes wear the "enhancer"
colours?
Enhancer colours are nearly transparent, allowing the structure of
the natural iris to remain visible. When worn by a light-eyed person,
enhancer colours are effective in subtly "brightening"
the natural eye colour. The effect is too subtle to see on dark eyes.
The enhancer lenses have a full circle of colour that
covers the pupil. Does this mean that if I wear blue lenses, everything
will appear blue?
No. The colour on the lens is virtually transparent. After your eyes
have about 15 minutes to adjust to the lenses, your vision should
be unaffected. Some wearers notice a change in vision due to changes
in the amount of light that enters the eye. If you notice a continued
change in your vision, talk to your Eye Care Professional.

Why do the enhancer lenses contain colour that covers
the pupil?
colour covering the full iris (the coloured portion of your eye) and
pupil ensures natural appearance. This way, there is no "transition
zone," where the colour stops and your natural iris starts.
With enhancer colours, the concentration of colour is low enough that
covering the pupil will not impact your vision.
Why do the lenses that completely change eye colour
have a "clear area" in the middle?
The colours used on these lenses are mostly "opaque," meaning
they completely block light. This attribute allows the colour pattern
to mask your natural iris (the coloured portion of your eye) to give
the impression that your eyes are a different colour.
If I don't wear my ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ lenses all of the time, how often should I throw away each pair?
Your Eye Care Professional will tell you how long you should wear
your lenses each day before taking them out for cleaning and how
often you should replace them. By following these directions, you
will benefit from the advantages of 2-week Frequent Replacement
contact lens wear.
Do ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ contact
lenses block ultraviolet rays?
Yes. The average UV-Blocking of ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ for UV-A is 81%, and for UV-B is *97%.This capability helps to protect
against transmission of harmful UV radiation to the cornea and into
the eye. However, since contact lenses only cover a portion of the
eye, they should not be used as a substitute for UV-absorbing eyewear,
including sunglasses.

What happens if I lose a lens?
With frequent replacement and disposable soft contact lenses like
ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses, losing a lens is no longer a problem.
With daily disposable and one-week to two-week contact lenses, such
as 1·DAY ACUVUE® and ACUVUE® 2 Brand Contact Lenses, parental concerns of lens care or loss is
not a big deal since you will always have back-up lenses on hand.
Can I sleep in my contact lenses?
Some contact lenses, like ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses, can
be worn while you sleep. These are called continuous wear contact
lenses. However, only your Eye Care Professional can determine if
continuous wear contact lenses are right for you and provide you with
information on their proper use.
Is it possible to lose a contact lens in the back of my
eye?
No, it's not possible to lose a contact lens in your eye. The eye
has a protective barrier that would prevent a contact lens from
ever being lost behind it.
Can I wear colour contact lenses if I don't need vision correction?
Absolutely. ACUVUE® 2 COLOURS™ Brand Contact
Lenses are available with and without vision correction needs. But
even if you don't need vision correction, colour contact lenses must
be fitted by an Eye Care Professional and need the same care as
any 2-week daily wear lens. So while colour contact lenses may be
just for fun, you still have to treat them like a medical device,
which means you need to care for them the way you would for other
ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses.
Can I continue using my glasses if I start wearing contact
lenses?
Absolutely. You can wear both contact lenses and glasses, alternating
for specific activities, needs, or preference. However, contact
lenses can be used full-time. It's up to you!
I've been told I have astigmatism, can I still wear contact
lenses?
Astigmatism is no longer a barrier to wearing contact lenses for
