Teens go through many changes at this time in their lives - sometimes that includes changes in their vision. In fact, most people’s eyes continue to change their whole lives. To make sure your eyes are healthy (the first step towards contact lenses), you need to get an eye exam every year.

YOUR VISION

Teens have their own vision needs, different from kids or adults. For example...

  • You play soccer and your glasses slide down your nose when you run.
  • Your classrooms are huge and you sit a mile from the blackboard.
  • You're outside all the time and you need to wear sunglasses.
  • It's hard to focus on a computer screen, book or other up-close work.
  • You just got your license and want to be a good, safe driver - contact lenses enable a full range of vision (periphery vision) that glasses do not.

...And on top of all of it, you think you look better - and more like yourself - without glasses.

Wearing contacts is all about you - in a good way! You're the one who's going to wear the lenses (and take care of them). Contact lenses will affect how you see - and how other people see you. To decide if you're ready to wear lenses, ask yourself:

  • Do your glasses interfere with your activities (vacations, sports, drama, photography, social activities)?
  • Do you see as well as you want to with glasses?
  • Do you like the way you look better without glasses?
